Gold Fineness Testing I. Fire Assay - Cupellation Method Fire assay is a typical destructive method for direct gold fineness determination. Our laboratory uses International Standard testing method (ISO 11426), which is generally adopted by worldwide assay laboratories. This test method is suitable for determining gold fineness in gold alloys, preferably gold content of the alloys that lie between 333‰ and 999‰. (* issue HOKLAS endorsed report) II. Difference Method by ICP-OES ICP-OES by Difference Method is a destructive, indirect gold fineness determination method. The gold alloys samples are weighed and dissolved in aqua regia. The impurities are determined by Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES). Gold content is obtained by subtraction of the total content of impurities in the sample. |
